Are there bird feeders made that do not scatter seed?
I need to find a type of bird feeder that the birds cannot scatter any seeds, my landlord will allow me to put up bird feeders, but my old ones were attracting rats & mice, do they make any at all that the seeds cannot be scattered?
Where should I put my bird feeders?
I don't know where to put my bird feeders. I have two under trees and one on my deck but I want to be able to see the birds. Im afraid if I put it near a window they won't come. I don't know what to do, whats the point of having feeders if you can't see the birds?
Do birds use "Bird houses" much? or hanging bird feeders?
also, how long can you hang a bird feeder and do you have any recommendations? do birds sit on bird feeders more than they would an actual bird house?please explain how territorial they are too perhaps? ALSO, HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO BUILD A BIRD FEEDER OR BIRD HOUSE? PLEASE EXPLAIN TOO IF YOU KNOW.thanks for your answers

Why did the seed in my bird feeders go bad?
Two weeks ago, I bought three bird feeders and put them in my back yard. Watching the birds, I noticed that while one feeder made of wire with sunflower seeds inside was very popular, the birds basically ignored the other two both plastic tubes, one large with mixed seed and one finch sized with thistle seed . The sunflower seed feeder was almost empty today, so I went outside to refill it and I figured I would just dump out the seed from my other two feeders and refill to see if the birds would be tempted by fresh seed. To my surprise, the seed in the bottom half of the big tube feeder has all sprouted inside of the feeder, and it had congealed into a big nasty mess that I could not clean out. Worse yet, the thistle seed was moldy and full of what I think were maggots I didn't care to look too closely . Both feeders are in the trash now. What went wrong? I live in an area that is very humid for much of the year does that cause excessive moisture to build up inside the plastic tubes? Should I only use the wire type feeders?
Is dryer lint safe to use in home-made bird feeders / houses?
I was reading through some green articles a while back and saw that you can make a bird feeder or house with a milk carton. The photos in the article had the homemade feeders houses lined with lint from the dryer. I know that lint breaks up very easily and is made of tiny foreign particles...is it possible that an animal could breathe the particles in and sustain an internal injury of some kind? I know that this would be an excellent use for leftover lint, since all it does is pile up, but I don't want to cause any animals a lung infection or anything...can't have that on my conscience. Any info? Thank you. I was wondering if it would be safe for the birds toLast line is a typo...tried to edit, but can't seem to.
Pigeon-Proof Bird Feeder? Made in USA a plus!?
Our bird feeder is very popular with a lot of different birds, but I don't want to attract or feed the Pigeons. I've got a feeder now that has a cage around it. The smaller birds can still get in, but the pigeons can't. The pigeons still manage is to shake enough seeds onto the ground to feed a flock. I need something better that really works. I would like specific suggestions on bird feeders, and it's a plus if it's made in the US. Suggestions???
