My backyard bird feeders are only attracting sparrows?
I fill my birdfeeder every day with a basic seed mix for wild birds. All I am getting is sparrows and an occasional cardinal. No chickadees, no titmice, no nuthatches, etc. I can hear them so I know they're out there. Are there any tricks to getting rid of these hungry sparrows so that the other songbirds can get some food? Thanks for you help.
Do mockingbirds feed at bird feeders?
We were in Tennessee last week, and I loved the way they sing. I was just curious whether they come to feeders or are strictly fend for themself type birds. We don't have them in Wisconsin, sadly.

Is dryer lint safe to use in home-made bird feeders / houses?
I was reading through some green articles a while back and saw that you can make a bird feeder or house with a milk carton. The photos in the article had the homemade feeders houses lined with lint from the dryer. I know that lint breaks up very easily and is made of tiny foreign particles...is it possible that an animal could breathe the particles in and sustain an internal injury of some kind? I know that this would be an excellent use for leftover lint, since all it does is pile up, but I don't want to cause any animals a lung infection or anything...can't have that on my conscience. Any info? Thank you. I was wondering if it would be safe for the birds toLast line is a typo...tried to edit, but can't seem to.
Are there bird feeders made that do not scatter seed?
I need to find a type of bird feeder that the birds cannot scatter any seeds, my landlord will allow me to put up bird feeders, but my old ones were attracting rats & mice, do they make any at all that the seeds cannot be scattered?
I have 2 bird feeders right next to each other hanging in a tree and all I am getting are?
a family of house sparrows. I get a red cardinal that comes around occasionally, but he will only eat from the ground. I can't understand why he won't eat from the feeder. But, I am waiting for some really pretty birds to come and they won't. What will make the pretty birds like the yellow finches come? I know there is a certain feeder for finches. Will they come to other feeders or does it have to be a special finch feeder?
